Portability comes into play with the choice of stainless steel or insulated handles that are manufactured on either side of the electric frying pan. The heat resistant handles are best for the chef that forgets to throw pot holders on their hands before touching pots and pans. For fancier presentations of the food at ceremonies and functions, the stainless steel works great.
Now if you`re particularly into Asian-style cooking, then you might want to get yourself a cast iron wok or frying pan. These are quite hefty to lift but they`re great for cooking Asian food. The cast iron material has the ability to withhold heat so your food can still cook when you simmer the flames down.
I do have a particular favorite and that is the traditional cast iron frying pan. What I love about my cast iron frying pan is that it gets better with age. I learned that this material will rust if washed too much by ruining an antique one owned by my wife. I simply wipe mine with a paper towel after each use. This classic frying pan is a favorite among seasoned cooks.
One of the most attractive materials that can be found in cookware is copper. A copper frying pan is able to withstand some punishment and it is an excellent conductor of heat. Many people like to display their copper cookware by hanging them on a rack. However, the copper tends to tarnish so be prepared to polish them every so often.
You might like to use your pan for frying fish. You will need to add oil and lower the fish into the oil with a big, specially shaped wooden spoon. Cook the fish until it is golden brown and done through. You can make chili, stews, and soup recipes in an electric skillet too. All you need is some stock in the pan, and the right ingredients. Start the cooking process at a high temperature, and then turn it down to medium when the recipe begins to boil. Simmer these dishes for at least half an hour before serving them.
